Von Rubenhof is owned by Elizabeth and Matt Akenhead. We are located on 7 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of  Southwestern Virginia.  Our foundation is of Czech Bloodlines. We have long term breeding plans and goals. Our breedings are thought out for not only today but for many generations from now.  What we strive for is high drive, solid nerves, and good health.  We have dogs from our kennel in many venues including Schutzhund, French Ring, PSA, UKC SDA , and Search and Rescue (wilderness & urban). Two of the 3 Dobermans that have achieved PSA titles came from us.

About Us:

Matt started in AKC obedience in 3rd grade. He put the CD title on his Sheltie "Nick".  In his early 20ties he was a mid distance Musher, with his sled dog team "The Ice Pack". Matt serves as the training director for  DVG Club Keystone Buckeye Hundesport Klub located in Roanoke, VA  and is a  licensed UKC Judge.  He has trained and titled dogs in Schutzhund to the following degrees: BH, I , II, III, FH, & AD. Matt has qualified and competed at the WDA, USA & DVG National Championships. Currently Matt competes in Schutzhund and SDA.

Elizabeth started with AKC competition obedience in 1998. She put the CD title on her Doberman "Reuben" in 1999. In her early 20ies she was the kennel manager & groomer for top AKC conformation handler and breeder Joseph Vergnetti. Liz  is the Vice President for  DVG Club Keystone Buckeye Hundesport Klub.  She has trained and titled dogs in Schutzhund to the following degrees:  BH,  SchA, Sch1, 1 IPO2.
